Preparation is Key to Safety Success
Crews are
informed of the
potential
hazards
associated with
their projects
and work sites
in advance so
they know the
equipment and
materials they
will need to
keep themselves
safe. Once they
arrive onsite,
work begins with
a safety brief.
Each safety
brief is a
practical and
collaborative
nuts and bolts
discussion
involving the
entire crew in
regard to the
hazards inherent
with the job
site and the
work being
performed. Once
the hazards have
been identified,
the crew
determines as a
group the steps
and protections
necessary to
safely complete
the job at hand.
Trust but Verify
Safety audits are performed on a regular basis to verify that workers have retained the training delivered to them, and that they are practicing what they have been taught. These audits also provide an additional inspection of jobsites in order to ensure there are not any other safety concerns that may exist that the crew may have overlooked. Auditors also look at equipment, vehicles and gear utilized by the crew to identify any condition that may make it unserviceable.
A Focus on Training
On day one of employment with Sicon, every individual receives a Safety Orientation, where the company’s safety culture and expectations are presented. From there, specific safety training requirements are determined and assigned based on the individual’s role in the company. Sicon’s engineers and field personnel are trained to work safely under adverse conditions and work together to develop safe methods to collect accurate data for many different situations.
